  • The manufacturer stated in the FCC test report is Compal (Compal Networking
[KunShan]), a part of Arcadyan - the same manuf. noted for the ASUS RT-AC56U
(WG9117GAC). See also ASUS EA-AC87 (Arcadyan WA5005AAC44-ASU)..
  • The primary SoC for device is Broadcom BCM4709 (ARM Cortex-A9 DualCore @1GHz).
The 2.4GHz radio is implemented with BCM4360, connected via PCIe to BCM4709.
The 5GHz radio is contained within independent Quantenna chipset (QT3840BC+QT2518B),
(QSR1000, ARC 700 core), which is connected in some fashion (via RGMII) to BCM4709.

This device was under short-term confidentiality, but that expired 12/24/2014.

Forum threads[edit]

"RT-AC87U REV 1.50" board shown, an Arcadyan typical label is found on the board noted
as being BCM4709 (BCM4709A0) based. ARC 700 family core used w/ the Quantenna SoC,
which seems to have also been used with at least some older Quantenna SoC's.
SoC's/radios are segmented - 2.4 GHz is handled on the BCM4360 directly connected
to the BCM4709, while 5 GHz is handled on the independent Quantenna SoC.
The Quantenna firmware is contained within the main Flash and uploaded at boot.
